Win7 Home Premium 64 bit, Logitech LX6 wireless mouse. I have the computer go to sleep after 45 minutes of inactivity. Occasionally, when waking up, the cursor is inactive. Re-seating the USB plug to the mouse receiver is the quick fix but a reboot also works. This HP computer has two low speed USB ports specifically for the keyboard and mouse, which I use for those purposes. I tried the mouse on a high speed USB port, but that was worse. I tried a Microsoft wireless mouse in the low speed port, same problem. I swapped the keyboard and mouse ports, same problem. Mouse drivers are up to date. I don't have a wired mouse with a cord long enough to reach the computer. It's annoying, and is driving my wife nuts.

It seems to me that this started happening a few months (?) ago, because it has not always been an issue. Help!

Look in Device Manager-> Mouse properties for the option-> Allow computer to turn off this device (make sure its not enable)

Also look at the other option: Allow this device to wake the computer.

"Allow this device to wake the computer" is checked. The first option is unchecked, but greyed out. I forgot to mention that the mouse movement is able to wake the computer, but once the desktop shows, the cursor is frozen (sometimes). I have the Logitech mouse drivers loaded, and wonder what would happen if I just used the Windows driver. There's really not much functionality gained with the manufacturer's drivers as far as I'm concerned.

I have 3 different brands of wireless mice. I didn't load any drivers for them. Let windows do it's thing and they all work fine. Desktop and laptop both. Using XP and Win 7.

I've unloaded the Logitech drivers and verified that the Microsoft driver is installed. I'll wait a few days to insure this is the fix and will respond regardless.
    Thanks for all the advice.

Sad to say the cursor still freezes intermittently. I even rebooted after switching mouse drivers, just because I could. Back to square one.

After doing some reading on the subject of sleep/hibernation, I decided not to have the computer sleep. The small amount saved on electricity is less than the frustration of wondering if the mouse will work. Problem solved, sort of.
