    Lo folks

In a PC1 with win7.HomeEditn.32bit in a peer2per network, a folder eg SFd is shared; Sharing & Security is done at the Advanced Properties dialog. Only one User eg User_1 with password has full control of SFd. This means other Users are removed to access it, in short access & full control is only for Administrators (with password) & User_1.

In another PC2 with same OS in a same network have User_2 (with password).

From PC2 when a User_2 click on the SFd in the LAN, a dialog will appear and we can then use User_1 with its password to log in to SFd and saved the access.

Is there any caveat to this? I ask this because at times we get a message of "no access, check with admin "
If this happens how can get back password dialog.

On the comp with the Shares, create a user account for the other computer user.

Thanks Tony for the repeated replies.

From what u say i have to create User_2 in PC1. This what i trying to avoid as it would mean that all Users must be created in PC1 for this access.

2 things i found from tinkering:

    1. User_2 need not be registered in PC1, i can still access the shared folder if the login dialog pops up asking for username & password; at this point i use User_1 login to access.

    2. Once User_1 from PC2 had accessed another shared folder in PC1, when User_1 tries to access the SFd, message "..check with admin.." appears instead of poping up the login dialog.

Hence the question again: How to get back the login dialog.

If you are using password sharing, and the users on other computers are different names and passwords than the user on comp 1, then you need to create user accounts for the other comps.
