i don't see any issue with installing a wireless mouse, most are designed to be plug and play.

Hi dispatch trophy. Most wireless mice have a USB receiver that you plug into the computer via the USB port and you should be able to use the device without any problems since they are plug and play devices.

Concur with the other posts - have used MS wireless mice with my laptops (HP), notebook (Asus) and desktop for years without issue.

The wireless you refer to is for internet connection - not required for wireless mice/keyboards which, es Evan posted, run from a transceiver plugged into a USB port.

thanks to flyboy1565, Evan Omo, PeteC, and SpywareDr:

    you have answered my question.

the reason I was investigating wireless was to avoid having to use USB since my laptop has only 2 USB ports and I need to use them for other things like microphone during skype and flashdrives.

If I have to use USB for wireless, there is no advantage.

    you welcome,

you could also increase your usb ports. they have some that are inexpensive, that run off usb.

I do have bluetooth capability on this laptop.

Do I just buy the mouse and it will start or is there more set up?

I just checked on Google and that led me to the Sony support website.

They have a driver that is supposed to solve the problem of the pointer jumping. So apparently Sony is aware of the problem.

I have installed this as well as a mouse driver. So I will have to see if this really works.
