Three times within the past 18 hours I've logged onto the Secunia OSI site and had my Norton AV program react with this warning -- "Norton blocked an attack by: Malicious DNS Domain." When I check for details, the severity level is rated High.

Further into the Details section is the tracking of the supposed source of the problem, and it's in the Windows/System32 folder. I ran a Norton Quick Scan and it found no problems. After trying the Secunia OSI site again and having an identical NAV warning pop up, I had Norton scan that System32 folder by itself and again it found no problem.

Otherwise, my system seems to be working normally. Is anyone else having their security program react to the Secunia OSI site?

No problems here on a system running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit nor on one running Windows XP Professional 32-bit. (Both with ALL available Microsoft updates applied).

Thanks for the feedback. You can see the details of my system in my signature, and I have all the MS updates, too, and all the malware progs updated as well.

So why am I getting these NAV alerts? It just started yesterday.

Hi Bobbo. I visited the Secunia OSI site on my system running IE9 on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and didn't have any problems either.

It sounds like it could be a false positive from your Norton AV.

I just visited the Secunia OSI site as well and had no issues. I'm running NAV 2012 Internet Security Suite.

Thanks to everybody for the replies. Since my system is working fine except for that one thing, I think I'll live with it a day or two, trying the Secunia OSI site each day to see if I continue to get the error warning or not. My NAV gets updates automatically, and maybe one of them will correct something. If not, when I was checking out the Details box I think I saw a way to stop NAV from displaying those alerts to that site. If need be, I'll give that a try.

I'm still curious why this issue arose out of nowhere, but maybe it's just one of the side benefits of still being an intermediate rather than a pro when it comes to computers. * sigh *

Just download it and be done with it. Don't have to go to the site each day. I have it that way on my XP and Win 7 PC's. I also don't find it 100% reliable. Shockwave is one that confuses it.

As a very late follow-up, I've been able to use Secunia OSI regularly without any more problem alerts. I suspect I'd originally gotten some false positives (no idea why). Enough time has passed since then that I've forgotten exactly what procedure I used, but it ended up with my instructing my Norton AV program to not give any more such alerts involving that source. And apparently that worked.

Thanks to everybody for their input. This thread can be regarded as "Resolved. "
