for some reason my windows 7 shows a window frame like "normal" for windows 7, i.e. frame color is pale blue.

I had (have) Windows Color and Appearance set to resemble XP . Only
two of the changes are actually applied (font and application background).

Changing themes has no effect (tried XP, windows classic,
    and windows7 basic).

MSE, MBAM, TDSS, Spybot all report no virus.

    Any suggestions?

    thanks,

Hi clif. Does this happen when you select a Window Aero theme?

I would check to make sure that both the Themes and the Desktop Window Manager Session Manager Services are both running and set to Automatic. To check this click Start< Run and type services.msc and hit enter.

When the Services window opens, verify that both those services are Started.

    Evan,

    Thanks for the feedback.

The Desktop Window Manager Session Manager was disabled. I started it
and set it to automatic. When i re-booted, it stayed "started" and automatic.

There was no changes to the color scheme tho. I re-tried the themes -
windows 7 (Areo), windows 7 basic, and windows classic, all with no
    effect.

    Still researching,

    Got it!

Don't know how or why but switched to windows basic again and reset
all color settings again and it worked.

One day we will figure all this out (and MS will have a large update the
    next day).

    Thanks for the help,
