Thanks for that link Evan Omo but I'm afraid that doesn't work for my system . I have done a search on Google for my problem and I already try what you posted but it doesn't apply here and I notice they mention it for just the c drive , my case is the other drive . I have try almost everything that Google search came up with no luck ... In the end nothing seem to work so I end up just formatting the whole drive . Everything now is good ...

So is this issue resolved then or is the icon still missing?

When you navigated to the following registry key, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorere\DriveIcons\C\DefaultIcon

Did you change the letter C to the letter X since that is the letter of the drive that has the missing icon?

Ok try this. Open the Registry Editor again and navigate to the following registry key,
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\DefaultIcon

Make sure the DefaultIcon registry key has a data value of the following path, %SystemRoot%\System32\shell32.dll,8

    See if that works.

Try this. Click Start< My Computer and double click on the harddrive with the missing icon. You should now be in the X:\ directory. Look for and delete if found the desktop.ini and delete the autorun.inf file.

You may have to show hidden files and folders and unhide any protected operating system files to see those two files on the harddrive. You can do this by clicking Tools< Folder Options and selecting the View Tab in the My Computer window. When done reboot the computer and see if that works.
