When ever I click on to create mail, reply, or my address book in Outlook Express I get a pop up notice that an error has occured and then a second popup that MrWatson postmortem Debugger has encountered an error and must shut down. Searching various sources suggest that I disable MrWatson postmortem debugger, and give methods but these methods are at least 5 years old and I do not get the results from trying these other methods. Is there a new solution to my problem so I can regain the create mail function? Thanks, Lorne

Well, that's to be expected for an OS that's already way over 10 years old. Nothing has changed.

To disable automatic debugging (i.e. you will receive a message box asking you if you want to Send Error Report or not), change the value of

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AeDebug\Auto to 0.

You can also try deleting the Value data of the Debugger key. According to Microsoft:

Thank you for the reply. I should have mentioned that "computers for Dummies" is advanced reading for me. You suggest to change the value of HKEY_LOCAL...etc. to 0. How do I get to that line. I've clicked onto "start" and onto "run" and get a great list of all types of lines similar to the one you have suggested. But the particular line that you mention is NOT on that list so I don't know how to access it to change the value. Would you mind expanding your answer to include each step I need to take to get to the automatic debugging line that you set out. Sorry to ask so much but I really need a step by step explanation. Thank you, again for your reply. Lorne

    That's a registry location....

    You can do this:

Create a new text file on your desktop, call it debug.txt.

Copy / Paste this text in there:

Save, then rename it, and change the extension from .txt to .reg.

Right-click the file, and from the menu choose Merge. Click Yes to have the data added to your registry.
