Using Win 7 64 bit. Had a sticky program so tried cntrl/alt/del for task magr so I could close it. Task manager was completely different to normal. No headings at the top and only the services button available on the lower right and in the window was just the list of services (running, etc). Not sure why this has happened but is there a way to restore the normal task mgr in case of problems. I've never seen this before but may have happened during a MSFT update or when I have made changes to the startup but had not needed task mgr for a while so haven't been able to pin down a cause. Any suggestions on this?

Found the answer, so for anyone else, you double click at the inside edge of the big box, not the aero border but just inside, and voila the normal task manager is back. Maybe this helps someone else.
It's an odd quirk that probably happens when moving the mouse around or accidentally clicking when task mgr was last used.

    garsar ...

FYI, pressing Ctrl Shift Esc will take you directly to the Task Manager, rather than having to go through the screen that Ctrl Alt Del opens.

Also, you might be interested in the Free Extended Task Manager, which provides more options than the built-in Task Manager (and can replace it).
