I would run Windows memory diagnostics. You can read about it in Help and Support.

The antivirus runs scans on the hard drive so you should run Error Checking (CHKDSK), set to scan for errors on the disk surface.

    Just tests I would run.

I uninstalled BitDefender and have had no crashes so far. I have been using BitDefender for better than 2 years now and this is the first time I have had any problems with it. I'm reluctant to give up on it since I have already paid for almost another year and a half of the service. Do you think re installing it will cause the same issue?

I also ran a memory check which showed no problems. I can't get the Check Disk Error program to work. I found the program, double click on it and a black dialogue box comes up and then disappears less than a second later. It seems to be closing itself, but I am not getting an error message, alert, or any other kind of notification that the program is not working correctly, it just won't stay open.

In that case you should contact BitDefender support & work with them to identify the problem.

Search Help and Support for "error checking" (Check your hard disk for errors). As I said, set it to test the surface. It will require a restart to run and may take a long time, so try running it overnight.
