    Hi, There

When i'm burning at 8 speed with my plextor than it happens that i get a kind of bufferunderrun or something because the burning process fails.

    Running XP
Burner is on his own cable and ide port
Using D drive (NTFS) for information that has to be burned.
Disable antivirus software etc when burning.

    What's the problem ?

How fast is the rated burn speed on the CD writer? How fast is the rated burn speed on the CDs you're using?

Have you got everything else running in the background shut down besides your anti-virus software...instant messenger, screen saver, unneeded XP services?

Have you run a defrag (not usually a problem with XP, but best to eliminate the common causes first) recently?

I had the same problem. Tried everything and it finally turned out to be a defective drive...less than a month old. The drive was replaced under warranty and I've had no problems since.

    Background Traffig

    Hi, there..

Yep, everything on the background out. Only a few services not because they can't be put out apparently.

Rated speed is 8 for the drive and for the discs that i use is 40 max.

What Plextor drive do you have and what are you trying to burn?

"i get a kind of bufferunderrun or something because the burning process fails. "

If it's a buffer underrun, the data being fed to the CD writer is being interrupted in some manner. That's usually caused either by disk activity or a badly fragmented disk or a system just too slow to keep up.

If it's the "or something," then it's anybody's guess as to why the burn fails. Does the software give you any way to view the error it encountered?
