    Hi Guys,

Recently I aquired a 2nd hand PC as a stop gap whilst I replace my primary system...

Anyway I have strong suspicions that the OS (XP Pro SP2) isn't legit, however I do have the OEM Key (XP Home) on a sticker with the case and am fairly confident that the hardware is unchanged from new.

I have access to an XP Home retail disk, will that allow me to install XP Home with the OEM Key or would I have to contact the manufacturer for recovery disks?

FWIW I have no problems with locating drivers etc so that isn't an issue but I'd much rather use a legit OS for security purposes, I haven't updated to SP3 or tried WGA as I don't want a brick here and it's not worth spending any money on this old system.

    Thoughts?

A retail copy will not accept an OEM key.

Fair enough Arie, As I said it's not worth spending anything on this so Linux it is.

Roll on next month when fingers crossed I should have my new system.
