Navigator/TurboTax 2001/IE

I purchased TurboTax 2001 Deluxe (am a long time user of TT) and installed on computer with Win 95. Navigator 4.75 and DSL connection (no modem connected only DSL).
History - previous versions of TT all connected to the web quickly and easily. Even went back to TT 2000 and connected to web.

Problem: Cannot connect to web. Get error message:
"a device attached to system is not functioning" error code 31. Also TT says it is installing IE5.5 but it does not. Intuit sent a second CD software disk & same problem. Intuit will offer no support.

Can anyone shed any light on this problem? Without connecting to web cannot update the TT 2001 software.

It sounds like you will have to download and install IE5.5 or IE6.0 to download updates for turbotax, unless you can find the IE setup files on one of the turbotax cd's. You will not be able to update turbotax without IE. However, you can go to download the federal updates manually. State updates are not available in this manner, they must be updated within the program, which requires IE.

This really should be in the applications or other internet software forum... since it's not a netscape problem. Hopefully the above will help you get started.
