    Greetings to all.

    Been using NS 7.01 for a few days now and think it's GREAT.

    Many excellent features, including Image & PopUp blocking.

    Especially like the "Use current Group" startup option.

    Would like to hear from any others that have given it a go.

    I have a couple of question but will hold off until someone else gives it a try.

    Regards: captjldd

    Ramona et. al

    Received the following from Holger Metzger:

    Have D/L build #7 and have it up and running.

    A couple of minor problems that I can attribute to Pilot Error

    Some of the settings from previous user.js file seeemed to effect accessing MY NETSCAPE - PORTFOLIO EDITING.

    Namely:
    user_pref( "capability.policy.default.Window.onunload ", "noAccess ");

    Also there seems to be a problem with the "status bar" indicating "transfering data........." when you do a right click reload. I seem to remember that this was a problem back in NS 7.0PR1 and was fixed ??????

    This may have something to do with the popup blocking, but I haven't figured it out yet.

    I can not seem to get the "play sound - show icon " to work. Someone at Sillydog says it works with the OFFICIAL NS 7.01.

    Will have to work with the NEW built in features, Popup and Image settings, to get a good handle on them. It looks like we may have to look again at some of the user.js and pref.js entries that may conflict with the built in preferences.

    Looking forward to hearing from any and all that istall NS 7.01

    regards:

    Hi

    You can delete that line from your user.js and also from your prefs.js files. That was a fix for the Referrer Privacy Leak.

    Keep us updated, as you go. I will be beta testing the Streamline when it is finished, so it will be a short while before I actually install 7.01. I'm always interested in your comments.

    Hi.

    Been there - did that.

    A research of Java site lead me to that conclusion.

    Now if I can just get the other anoyances fixed I will be a Happy Camper

    Also looking forward to Antony's Streamline to see how it works/compares.

    Thanks for the reply

    :D

    regards

    At "Download" site what are those two other files: "nssetup.jar ", and "nssetup.xpi "? Do I need to download them, too?

    Hi broni,

    This is the list of the bug fixes in 7.01, that was posted on the Netscape 7 Newsgroup.

    You don't need to install the jar and xpi files. The jar file is new, but there is a directory listing for the
    7.0 xpi files. You can download separate components, which is good, in the event a file becomes corrupt.

    As an added note of precaution. As captjlddavis noted, there are files that should be deleted from the user.js and prefs.js files:

    user_pref( "capability.policy.default.Window.onunload ", "noAccess ");
    user_pref( "network.http.sendRefererHeader ", 1);

    These are the workarounds for the Referrer Privacy Leak, and are no longer needed.

    Note: unless you have created your own user.js file, then only the prefs.js file will need to be changed, if you have applied either or both of the above scripts. Back up your prefs.js file before editing!.

    Still checking things out :D

    I think the icon is working but sound is not.........

    Browsed to valid file - selected same.

    following entry appears in prefs.js:

    user_pref( "privacy.popups.sound_url ", "C:\\Mozila\\Space critical stop.wav ");

    Yes I turned up the volume on speaker...... tested the .wav file. Still no sound but icon appears. Very strange.

    Still haven't run this down.

    Does anyone know if this occures with the Official NS 7.01 ?

    Keep in touch.

    Regards:

    Hi captjlddavis,

    I saw a fix for your popup sound problem, which was posted on the NS 7 Newsgroup by Warren C.E. Austin, one of the resident Netscape Guru's:

    Add these two lines to your user.js file:
    user_pref( "privacy.popups.prefill_whitelist ", false);
    user_pref( "privacy.popups.sound_url ", [drive]:\\[programfilesdir-path]\[sound.wav] ");

    Warren C. E. Austin
    ---

    So, your second line would look something like this:

    user_pref( "privacy.popups.sound_url ", C:\\WINDOWS\\Media\\chimes.wav ");

    Let us know if this works for you.

    Thanks.

    ....... "whitelist" is set to "false" in my prefs.js file, I think,(but not sure) that this entry is established when you make any change to the "Exception" list ?

    As to the sound entry mine reads

    Note:

    1. I know that is not how you spell "Mozila ", that is just a directory that I stache things in while playing around.

    2. the double " \\ " marks, I seem to remember having read that this is required ?
    Anyway I did not manually make the entry.

    Will continue to research it.
    :D

    regards
