Very often when accessing random websites I will get the infamous "A runtime error has occurred? Do you wish to debug?" with various error types: sometimes "syntax error ", sometimes "object expected ", sometimes other errors.

Does this mean that the pages themselves have erroneous code in them OR might it be something not set correctly in my I.E. options? I'm guessing the former, but just wanted some corroboration.

Also, if I ever DO click YES to debug, nothing happens. Which debugger is it tryng to use? Do I need something specific installed?

    Thx.

Note: If you are a javascript developer (or webmaster) then it is probably wise to leave script debugging enabled.

Yes , websites problem, but my wife
hates to see it, I use NS7, wife use IE6
If you want it to go away
right click on IE icon, left click properties,
    advanced--and ensure that disable script
    debugging is checked
I also like to go to msconfig and uncheck
    mdm.exe[something like that] and reboot
    the computer.

I am a developer, but when I click on the YES button I don't get any debugger program. Nothing happens. Where is the debugger set (in the options somewhere)? What is it supposed to use as a default debugger? Right now clicking yes or no does nothing (simply closes the dialog box).

    Thx,

ahhh. yes... time. What a nuisance. Always getting in the way of progress <sigh>. ALSO gets in the way of my famous Florentine Omelette! (Clock above the stove keeps falling into the pan. Eggs everywhere... TIME is so pretentious.)

    But I digress..

er... Great link. I'm poring over the info. There's a download to upgrade the scripting engine, but without knowing which I have currently I'm reluctant to upgrade (I have IE6 so I would imagine I have the most recent but without a concrete way of checking...)

    Thanks for the info.
