I'm running XP pro on a new computer. I have one old program necessary for work (no new version since W98). Can't get it to run on XP.

Is there something on XP that will allow me to run this old program, ie., something similar to running a program in a DOS window on the old W95?

PS-- The multibillion dollar healthcare company still says it has no definite plans to upgrade its software to run easily on XP. Sheeesh!!!

Rudy is this a DOS program or a windows 3.1?

There are other ways but the 1st create a shortcut to the program. Once you have a shortcut then rt click properties look try compatability mode. There are a couple of choices here.

If none work get back with more info about the program

    Rudy.

You may also want to consider uninstalling the program and reinstalling it using Compatibility Mode for the install. Then of course run it under that mode later as well. Here's a link to more info on installing under compatibility mode.

    Good luck.

    :)

    :) :D

Thanks to all who replied. Used the compatibility setting under Properties, and had the program running in 30 secs.

    Thanks again.
