It's now March 2012, and I have deferred since fall 2011 updating my Vista HP's with the Office 2007 SP3 (I have SP2). I wonder if it is finally time to get this done. Any advice out there on whether I should go ahead and update to SP3 or not? No brainer? Or are there some drawbacks when leaving SP2 for the SP3 update?

Hi fourdoor2041. I would install Office 2007 SP3. I haven't heard from anyone having issues installing it.

You should create a system restore point before installing the update though just in case anything goes wrong. Download the update from here, Office 2007 SP3.

I'm sure if you google it you can find a big ol list of all of the fixes/patches/updates etc that SP3 has in it... I always install SP's a month or so after they come out.

Thanks for both of your replies Steve R and Evan Omo. It looks like it is something I should go ahead and get done. Bob F (fourdoor2041)

No Problem Bob. Keep us updated on whether or not the update installs successfully or not.

My SP3 was automatically downloaded on 3/28/2012, just about the time I was ready to manually prompt the update. So far no problems. Thanks again for the feedback. Funny thing, though, and I'm sure it is not related, ever since the update, my download time for some websites (I have IE9) has increased -- enough to notice. I have a solid broadband connection (cable modem). The Office update wouldn't affect the IE9 functions, would it?

No, the Office 2007 SP3 update would not affect your download speed in IE9 at all.
