I'm here looking for a program that can detect what drivers you need to update. The reason is I'm assuming i got hit by a pretty mean virus that deleted all of my programs and files forcing me to re-install windows 7. Unfortunately I lost all my drivers for my hardware and since this was a store bought computer (waranty expired in dec) I have no idea what drivers i need to download or where to find them.

I'm assuming that you made a clean install of Windows 7 - correct ?

You will need to determine the make & model no. of the motherboard using, say, SIW Home Editiuon (freeware) and then go to the manufacturer's web site and download the drivers for the chipset and other mobo drivers.

BTW - if this is the same computer as listed in My System you need to update the OS entry.

Sadly the system I am on is a laptop so looking at the Motherboard would be difficult. Also it would appear some of my issues are resolving themselves thankfully. I've had a lot of back luck with pc's lately. Also the specs in my system are that of my desktop not my laptop. My desktop is down due to my Power Supply Unit dying violently a month and a half ago. Last of all thanks for your assistence The program was usefull for finding the other drivers lost due to the unfortunate incident.

You don't need to look at it physically - SIW should give the detail.

However, as it is a laptop go to the manufacturer's web site and search for drivers. If you have difficulty post the Make & Model No. of the laptop here and we will probably be able to assist you in locating drivers.
