    Hi All
I got a new Phone and I would like to use my own Ring tone.
How do I get it to my Phone from my Computer without buying another USB cable that I will never use again? Can I send myself a text and attach it?
This is an AT&T phone and it uses MP3 files.

If this is possible, I need detailed instruction please

    Thanks

    Sven

Which phone do you have? Different phones do different things with their charging cord. My HTC will charge in AC or will charge with the PC or send or recieve data. I use a Dongle most of the time to do what I want to do with it.

the charging cord is just that, a charging cord for AC 110 volt
I would need to buy a USB cord to connect to my computer. I am trying to avoid that and somehow send the file to the phone, like E-Mail or text with attachment.
    Is that possible?

Create an MP3 ringtone no larger than 300kb and email it as an attachment to your phone. For AT&T you would send it to your phone number (area code included) at mms.att.net

Hi SVEN, as MrBill and Arie requested, your make and model of phone detail would help immensely.
I have a Huawei Ideos U8150 Smartphone (Android) and I have just installed 33 Ringtones (music) via the MicroSD card. This involves taking the card from the phone and putting it in a USB holder and plugging into the comp.
It's recognized as Disk drive and all I did was put the Ringtones in a Folder then Right click and Sent it to the drive.
Disconnect USB and take out card and re-install in phone and there they are in Sound > phone ringtones.
I can also do the Download through syncing the phone through the charge cable which has a USB connector to the AC charger plug.
It can also be done through Blue Tooth following instructions in the Manual. Cheers Neil.

    retiredlearner,
as per your request the phone is called Pantech Link. It comes with a wall charger only. As I stated above, I do not want to buy a usb cord that I will only use once. ( I have 2 already that have no use) Also I don't need a sd card. This phone is only used to make calls. It is a Pay as you go phone.
Whiskeyman told me how to do it, but I have not tried it yet.
This way I don'y need to spend any more money.

That phone has a SD card anyways. So you wouldn't have to buy one.

    MrBill,

The card slot is empty and there is no card in the box.

That is weird. Maybe that is a special phone set aside for the pay as you go plan and they skimp every way they can. Bet that if you got that phone regular plan, it would have a sims card in it.

I gave up trying to figure what some outfits do. :D

I know that my last 2 phones came with a SC card.

    MrBill,

I looked at the options that I can buy and it is listed as an option.
That's Pay As You Go. At least I save some $ 400 a year without a contract.

Hi SVEN, I see your Pay as you go is $10.00.
My total outlay for my Ideos has been $220.00 plus $40.00 prepay. This gives me 500 Free texts a month.

    The phone cost me $150.00.
8GB Micro SDHC Class 6 with adapter $26.00.
Stylus pen, screen protector and gel case $18.35.
Spare 3300mah battery and cover $20.00.
SIM card $5.00 to get started.

I noted only 80mb internal storage on the Pantech and the SIM card is also used for storage.
Mine has 200mb internal and Phonebook has practically unlimited entries and fields.
It all comes down to what we are prepared to pay and with a 3.2 MP camera and GPS, I'll stick with my Ideos U8150 for a while yet.
All the best with your ringtones. Neil.

If you got bluetooth option in your computer then you can easily transfer it to your mobile phone. It will appear in the messages and from there you can run it in your music player and save it into your playlist. One more thing, some songs might not give you the option of being set as ring tone. Through your file manager, you have to copy that song in your sound files folder or whatever default ringtones folder your mobile has. Only then you can set it as ringtone from your profiles.
