I get the following message when checking my E-mail:

"There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected. Account: 'mail.tgi.net', Server: 'mail.tgi.net', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR [SYS/PERM] Unable to process From lines (envelopes) in /var/mail/jsmurphy; change recognition mode or check for corrupted mail drop.', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92 "

I contacted my ISP, and was told it is my end causing the problem at their end. They can fix the problem, BTW, this has happened two of the last weekends and a couple times previously. I was told to reinstall OE6.
First question, and most important to me, in OE6, how do I save my address book files to another file. I have lost them before when I tried to do stuff like this.
Next, how do I go about reinstalling Outlook Express.
    Thanks,
    Scott

OS: XPPro w/ all available updates.

Before you do a reinstall. Go through control panel, add/remove programs, highlight IE, click add/remove, then select repair. OE in tied to IE. BTW, all ISPs are quick to blame your end, they will never admit they have a problem. If the repair doesnt work, I would go to tools, accounts, remove your account, and set up a new one. Post back good or bad.

aleekat, thanks for the info. I will try it through the add/ remove program. I did figure out the address book saving part on my own. I verified it on my wifes 'puter to make sure.:)

Your address book will stay intact using both of these methods.

    You can always use the
    File>>Export>>Address Book
and export the Address Book as a text file and save it in "My Documents" as a backup.

    Restore from
    File>>Import>>Address Book
and point to the saved file.

Instead of messing with OE's installation, try deleting the offending account. Go to Tools>Accounts>Mail and delete it. Then you can recreate it. This often takes care of these problems.

I see that XP is being used here.

I am using Win98 SE. But I do not see why XP would not handle Eudora as I do not believe it to be OS or IE orientated like OE is. It is pretty much a standalone program.

It might be worth checking into.

Get Eudora and set the addresses as Nicknames and OE can take a long walk off of a short plank and will not effect Eudora.

Put Eudora on a partition other then C: and it will not get lost even on a format of C:

A re-install over itself maybe, but nothing will be lost.

I am using the same Eudora on the same E: drive that I used with Win95. Have changed the OS several times and have not lost Eudora or its address book at all. And OE is not even installed on any of my machines.

But again, XP is being referred to in this post.

I did as shawdowhawk suggested and deleted the account and started it over. We will see if this works. Thanks for the help folks.
