Hello, I hope someone is well versed with WLMail 2011 Essential? I have so many glitches that their own forum told me I should reinstall...

I would, after I get instructionns on how ;) except I'm not sure how to backup all my files so as not to lose them during reinstallment. Anyone has good ideas how to do this? I have a flash drive 8GB for backup...

Thanks so much for help! :) Adela

P.S. Your "Sizes" button on HTML doesn't work; also the "Fonts" offer only 4.

That's intentional. There's no need for any other sizes and/or fonts to convey a message.

Thanks Arie but...this is what I need them for: I like the computer info on a much smaller size; when it didn't work, I thought I'd use a smaller or different font... Adela

P.S. By the way, then you don't have a section for WLMail Essential 2011? Thanks.

See: How to remove and reinstall Windows Live Essentials

To backup your Mail account settings click the Arrow in the top left of Windows Live Mail, select Export email, and then click on Account. Highlight the account that you want to backup and click Export, give the file a descriptive name, and click Save.

To backup your email messages click the arrow in the top left, select Export email, and click Email messages. Select Microsoft Windows Live Mail in the "select format" box and click Next.

Browse to the Libraries\Documents folder and with the Documents folder selected, press the button Make New Folder. Type WLM backup to change the New Folder name, click to select the WLM backup folder & press OK, then click Next. Select All Folders and click Next. When the backup process is done click Finish.

Last item is your contacts list: Click Contacts in the lower left of your WLM and then at the top of WLM click the menu button Export and select Comma Separated Values (CSV). Browse to a backup location and click Finish.

Thank you SO much Arie! Your explanations to back up my WLMail Essential sound very easy and I feel confident now to try it. And also thank you for instructions on reinstalling the WLMail!

If I may ask one more question: As to my "Contacts" in the lower left corner, I never put in there the email addresses that I send my messages to. Instead, I have them listed on a page of my email program and each time I want to forward something to them, I go to this page, copy them and paste them on the BCC. :D

That's because, while on Outlook Express I had them neatly in the proper way and it was very easy to just with one click or two to get my list on the BCC or wherever, but, one day two thirds of those addresses disappeared and neither I nor anyone else could recuperate them.

Recently when a techi came over to transfer everything to my new computer here, the lists I kept in my 4 Identities got all mixed up and I further lost a lot of addresses...

The "Contact" list as it appears now in the lower left, is made up of EVERYTHING that's sent to me, and many of these I do not want on my list.

Do you think I could have my lists (4 of them) on a proper place so that I can, again, copy them with only one or 2 clicks?

I'm sorry for the lengthy new question, if you think I should open a new thread, please let me know and I'll do it.

Thanks a lot again for your good help. :) Adela

Click the arrow in the top left and select Options > Mail. Select the Send tab and uncheck Automatically put people I reply to in my address book after the third reply.

Not sure I understand this. If all your (4) identities had separate address books, and they got merged into one, you'd have to manually fix that.

Thank you Arie for showing me how to get rid of the contacts which I will do.

It's true they were all mixed up, but I fixed them in any way I could and managed to, again, separate the ones I recognized.

So, is it possible to put each in an Address Book so I could retrieve each one with only one or 2 clicks?

    Thanks much! :)

P.S. I think tat the Contacts may come in handy in case I forget an address or something, so my new question is: If I leave in the Contacts in the lower left, would it interfere with my Address Books if I'm able to create them?

As to the questions you have left: I have no idea, I've not ever used WLM that way. Just try it & you'll find out.

No harm done as long as you have a backup ;)

That doesn't mean anything. Look at the sample picture in the User Guide

I'm sorry I can't understand! I followed this from your Guide:

"Once you have posted those details, when still looking at your thread, near the top (and bottom) of your thread you'll see the text "Mark Thread as Solved ". Click on it to mark your thread as solved. "

Now you say I must click on Search? I did that but nothing happened. Even the pic shows that I did per the Guide's instructions, here:
    https://www.windowsbbs.com/?help/Guide/

I like to close this thread but don't see where to do that.... :( Adela
