    Hi
I don't understand why Outlook won't display my messages in the body of the message and treats many incoming email messages as attachments. This never happened in Outlook Express. Many messages come with a .txt file shown in the body of the message and then a .html file. These can be opened as attachments. Why doesn't the .html message show up as the body of the message? This doesn't happen with every message. Some messages open with a click.
    Thanks

    Hi esteeven
Welcome to the boards! Could it be that these messages come with stationary?

    Hi Daizy
It doesn't look like it. The .html document opens in Internet Explorer with no problems. The .txt attachment is often a duplicate of the .html attachment (without the html bells and whistles). It just seems that a double click on a message header should bring up that message - not attachments.

No common themes that i can find. The messages come from all over the world...yeah, I know. AOL live all over the world:rolleyes: It's simply that the body of the message is coming as an attachment. It's like being with Compuserve in 1998 again :D

    Daizy

You're getting the HTML as an attachment because Outlook 97 does not support HTML natively. That support was not added until the mostly unknown Outlook 98 which was a free upgrade for Outlook 97 users for a very short time. Once Outlook 2000 was released Microsoft pulled the free download of Outlook 98.
