    Hi,

I'm running Windows 2000 Professional and I have got a program that "Requires Windows 95 ". It's some sort of DJ Program. I can't install it on win2k though, the installation ends saying "Need Windows 95 ". Is there any way, like in Windows XP, to spoof the OS ? So I can install the program on Win2K ?

No garantee that it will work, but if you make a shortcut to the program you want to run, then right click on it and go to properties, then Compatibility Mode.

I think that is what you are looking for.

Note: It has worked for me sometimes, but not all.

Are you sure you are rt clicking a "SHORTCUT" compat mode will only work on a shortcut not the actual executable.

Additionally after you get compatability mode working go to:

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...FamilyID=09DAC794-B803-4B92-83C9-6A9E8B801434

This is ACT (Application Compatability Toolkit).

I have used it to make programs that it is said will not work, work!

XP has a bad rap on compatability. It is actually better, as I have found after setting up the correct compatability most people say games actually run faster than in former OS.

This should help with your problem.

I really can't find that compat mode
I assume every windows package has the same options ? Even when it's another languagepack :)

    Read our messages.

YOU CAN NOT GET IT ON AN EXECUTABLE PROGRAM!

    ONLY ON A SHORTCUT!

Do you know what a shortcut is?

Right click on a blank part of your screen go to new-shortcut
Browse to the setup.exe click OK to create a shortcut on your desktop.

After you have the shortcut then the compatability mode will show up.

    LOL!

    OK! Reggie I am sorry.

You write in very good english but your screen shot is in "German? "

    I can't read it.

But now I can see it don't appear to be the correct screen.

I will research and get back to you.

    Yup,

I have made an account and added it to the Administrators group. I've logged in as the original Admin, and there's also no compat mode.

    Compatibility mode...

I'm also running Win2k (as administrator) and I do not have a compatibility tab either. Did you add a tweak from somewhere?

    B
