i have windows 7 ulimate... i dont know the specs exactly for the computer i have had the pc for about 6 years... i have reloaded it once from windows vista(bad move)because i.. umm crashed the system... then there was windows 7.... it was going fine for a while then the system would turn off by itself... when turning it back on the system would show the blue system light would come on for 2 seconds and then turn off. this would go on for about 6 more time and then the system would do what i want... now i tried to turn on the system it has an orange light... it would do the same thing light would come on for 2 seconds and then turn off. now the orange light is permanent... during this time i am making sure all the wires are plugged in right... i think that the violet( that the name i gave her) doesn't like me anymore.:(:(:(

Where are you seeing these blue /orange lights? - they sound to me like the lights on your monitor - Blue =active, orange = standby (no signal) - please clarify.

6 years is not a bad run. It is probably a decent lifespan from hardware of that era.

Since it is a startup problem. I will move this thread to Hardware.

We don't know any details about the computer. If it is a Dell computer, my heart sinks when I see a orange light on those. It usually means an unrepairable (expensive to repair) problem. If it is a Dell, their manuals could tell you what the orange light means.

I would personally suspect a power supply fault if you are getting no beeps and an orange light, but that isn't a certainty.
