I don't use this forum since I don't have XP, but, my dad sent this article to me recently and I wanted to share it with you XPers. I think I'll wait a bit for the next version or when I do finally buy a new machine I'll make sure it DOESN'T have XP. It's just MHO.

"Quality goes in before the name goes on." A good slogan that M/S has never met. The less expensive method for M/S is put the product on the market as soon as possible and react to consumers' feedback. Aggregate the bugs by number of problems and find a solution in a decending order. The tradeoff is more money for M/S at the expense of consumer inconvenience.

I guess the big deal is, it would be nice, if, when a new product comes out and claims to be MUCH BETTER than the last version, that it REALLY is. I try real hard to be an optimist, but more and more I'm becoming a pessimist. It must be an 'age' thing. :(

I know that 'new' things have to be broken in and sometimes 'New and Improved' really is that, but I still think I'll wait until they work most of the Bugs out before I will consider buying an XP machine. Just MHO.

I have worked with all versions of Windows at one time or another and all I have felt is frustration.

My solution: Linux :) - not as easy to use at first but if you stick at it, its acutally quite simple. (the only problems I have had with Linux is with hardware which is ultimately also the fault of windows since most pcs come with windows-specific hardware (eg modems) and windows will not divulge driver source code for others to improve/modify/update.

If you consider the amount of hardware & software Windows manages to work with, it's nothing short of a miracle that it works in so many cases!

How much simpler would it be if it only would run on proprietary hardware such as Macintosh on Apple...
