I read that you need to install this hotfix after installing Office 2010 SP1. When I go to the website it says I have a 64 bit browser.

My version of Windows 7 is 64 bit. I use the 32 bit version of I.E. as far as I know. Can you tell me how to check and how to change it to 32 bit if I need to. I understand that 32 bit I.E. is the default, but I'd like to make sure.

I installed the 32 bit version of Office 2010 when I did install it. Do I use the 32 bit version of the hotfix or the 64 bit version it wants me to use?

For that matter do I install the SP1 for 32 bit since that's what office I installed or 64 bit?

You should only apply the hot fix if you are experiencing the issues noted here ....

Description of the Word 2010 hotfix package (Word-x-none.msp): December 13, 2011

When I follow your link I see two versions of the hotfix. You would to select the version 32/64 that matches your Office version.

    EDIT:
Do you have the SPECIFIC problem that the hotfix addresses? If not - I wouldn't install it.

I have not yet installed Office 2010 SP1 but I read Windows Secret newsletter that said to apply the fix right after installing SP1.

"Hotfixes are included in subsequent service packs that are safer to install through Microsoft Update ".

Should I wait for SP2? Do you recommend installing The SP1 at this time?

I would follow Susan Bradley's advice and install SP1 followed by the hotfix.

If I install the Office SP1 and then need the hotfix, I would install the 32 bit hotfix because that's what version of office I installed, inspite of the fact that my system (I believe that's what they mean by platform?) is a 64 bit?

Correct - the Hotfix for Office 2010 64 bit would not install on the 32 bit version anyway.
