Is there some way to totally turn off Yahoo's chat and/or messenger service? I long ago gave up trying to get "Chersh Daniels" (whoever (s)he is...) permanently deleted/banned with no results.

Sending requests to Yahoo's Help (now, THERE'S a misnomer!) Desk is less than fruitless and I just can't figure out how to kill these functions, or at least render them incapable of being seen on my screen.

Most of my 'business' emails are thru Yahoo as that's where I have my Domains. I would change them, really I would, but then I'd confuse the (at least) two customers I have, neither of whom are too swift.

If there's naught to be done, I'll just suffer thru it, but I'd like to make my computing experience just that much simpler, and also evitiate the incessant trips to the emergency room engendered by the Wife's interest in 'just who all these women are' that keep trying to talk to me online.

She's a dab hand at slinging that skillet!

You solution may be simple. In the Yahoo Messenger go to Preferences, then select Ignore List. Then click on the option "Ignore anyone who is not in my Yahoo! Contacts ". This will not affect your Yahoo email.

Seems a bit deeper than that... Now each time I sign onto Yahoo Mail (old style), the splash box says, "You are disconnected from Chat because you have signed onto this service from another device. "

Of course, I haven't done any such thing to my knowledge, and - sure enough - after a few seconds "Chersh Daniels" and her cohort of non-existant cyber vampires are right back.

However, in the course of things, I switched from "old style" mail to "new style" mail and - as though I had shone the sun upon them - the cyber vampirettes all disappeared and have not been seen since, so I guess, Steve, we CAN call this problem...

RESOLVED (albeit thru the back door...)
