I have a Dell E5520 running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit (as installed by Dell). When I boot the computer, The wireless card tries to connect to the network, but times out. WHen I check the card's status, it shows as "disabled ". I change it to "enabled" and it works jst fine until the next boot (warm or cold).
Any thoughts as to what is going on?

    TIA,
    Hank Arnold (MVP)

Hi Hank. Have you checked the Dell BIOS settings to make sure the wireless card isn't disabled there?

If the settings are fine in the BIOS try booting into Safe Mode with Networking and check to see if the Wireless card is disabled there as well. This should help to rule out if any 3rd party programs are interfering with the wireless card.
If Safe Mode with Networking doesn't yield any results you could also try installing the latest driver for the wireless card and check if that fixes the issue.

I tried deleting the device and installing the latest drivers from Dell. Device was definitely enbled. You could see the wirless device loaded and try to connect to the WAP. After a few seconds, it usually failed and disabled the device. A couple of times, it actually connected and then failed after a few seconds.

Since it was early in the setup process (and I was under the gun to get this one set up so I could clone it), I ended up restoring the factory image. It's working just fine now. Must have been something I did during deleting/installing

    Thanks for the reply.
