I have the dreaded Thomson Gateway TG585 v7. I am trying to set up a web server and having problems. I have installed IIS and forwarded port 80 but when anyone tries to connect it comes up with Thomson Gateway so its trying to connect to my router. I would just put the computer in DMZ but the computer needs to have a dynamic IP address. Okay, no problem but even if it does it still sees the computer as having static IP address. The router has a remote assistance feature that is turned off but its supposed to use a different port anyway. here is my server. (IP Address removed by moderator for security reasons). Thanks!

    1. Set a static LAN IP for the computer running the Web server. (192,168.x.x)

    2. Configure the Web server to listen on a different port than port 80. Use 8080 or 8090. (sometimes 8080 is also blocked) This you must do because your ISP most likely filters port 80 to prevent customers from running Web servers.
How to change the TCP port for IIS services

    3. Use the router port-forwarding to forward requests for port xxxx to the static LAN IP of the computer running IIS.

Hi, thanks for the reply, that would of been a good idea. What I done was clicked "Return to Factory Default Settings ". I tried the port forwarding again and it worked perfectly this time. If you have my router http://192.168.1.254/cgi/b/ST/?be=0&l0=0&l1=-1

Your site is unreachable over the Internet using your IP address. The router is set to not respond to port 80 requests, as it should be. Using an alternate port & port forwarding will allow access to IIS from outside your local network. IIS is only available now on your local network.

For example, one of my domains is hosted on a server in my house. The domain name is forwarded to my WAN IP address and I use a http://turrisi.org The apache Web server uses port 8090.
