On Windows 7 (using IE8) we have (don't laugh) an application that requires Access 97. If you double click a URL shortcut it just launches a blank page (with nothing in the address bar). If you then click Home it brings up our Intranet site. if we deinstall 97 and install 2000 everything works ok (except for the app that requires 97). It even happens when logged an as the admin user. Launching IE normally is perfectly ok. Unfortunately quite a lot of apps that this image is used for are browser based.

    Any ideas?

Hi aggletonm. Office 97 isn't supported or is compatible with Windows 7. As you found out upgrading to Office 2000 solves your problem.

There isn't much advice I can offer other than you can try launching Access 97 and the application in Windows XP compatibility mode and see if that works.

It is installed in XP compatibility mode - it won't let you install it otherwise..... I reckon I may have to use Virtual PC or VMware.

Presumably you are accessing IE8 from XP Compatability mode and the app is installed in XP?

Pete, The app that uses Access 97 isn't a web based one - it's written in Access. This is why I'm confused as there's notionally no relationship between Access and IE.

That may be the route to go as you posted earlier.
