Ok, a very nerdy question for you all.

I have a logitech mx510 (corded) mouse currently.

I recently just remembered that a friend had the wireless version, and thought to look up the product number.

My question - the idea of the wireless is very appealing (ive never liked the 'weight' feeling of the cord hanging off the desk, i keep it lifted under my cordless phone charger.). But, i do like the blue style of mine.

Is it at all possible to take them apart and trade the faceplates - putting the blue plate onto the wireless mouse, and vice versa?? (i would keep the corded one as a backup). the design, besides the wire and colour, is exactly the same.

I know most people arent picky about what a mouse looks like, but what can i say, i like the blue!

I was going to just buy a wireless one and experiment, but i thought maybe id see if anyone else has tried this before/thought of it. i didnt want to break anything either.

Also, im going to assume yes, since mine does, but would this particular wireless mouse work on windows 7?

Just buy a blue wireless mouse and be done with it. Nothing to take apart and I know that it will fit. See them all the time in Blue and Red and other colors. Some are even 2 tone.

Wally World, Worst Buy, Radio Shack, Office Depot, Staples and you can Google them and get them from several other places. I like to do the hands on feel trick.

Theres a couple aspects of this one though that i like. it is full size (most now are tiny laptop type sizes), and i really like the idea of the charging dock.

I know i dont *need* it, but its really appealing. perhaps just the nerd in me.

It will probably "unclip ", but I doubt they are made to be, ummm, un-clipable. They would probably never be expected to be repaired in the future, just replaced under warranty or thrown away. Unless, it might be a very high-end mouse.

You might end up with at least one broken mouse.
