    Hi,
My system has crashed blue Screen with stop message 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0xAE1F978E, 0xF78AA03C, 0XF78A9D38) I cannot get past bootup. Have tried with recovery disc but no good. My system will not boot to safe mode, so I cannot get in that way. Have tried chkdsk /r but that did not work.
I have looked on net for this stop message but I only find posts regarding 0x0000007E
Can any body help!! don't want to have to format HD

Thanks for the reply, I have checked this out and done the memory check which was ok. But as I cannot boot to safe mode I cannot find what is causing the problem. In normal mode it boots to the welcome screen and after 5 secs the blue screen appears. I am not that PC technical to know what to remove/disable from the console command.

Ok, I have followed the instructions from the following site.
    http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=307545
I got back into my system under admin after following part 1, was not able to access much. Followed instructions at part 2 and 3 then rebooted but just at welcome window I get blue screen and same stop message. I have tried files from different restore points even when there was nothing wrong with my system as far back as three months ago, but still the same end result.
Also is there anyway of accessing my user files under Administrater.
    Thanks for any help

If you can't get it booted up into Safe mode you've got a serious problem. Could be damaged/incompatible software, hardware, or some sort of Malware.

I'd try resetting the BIOS to factory defaults and then see if it'll boot in Safe mode.

If not, I'd then try to boot from any bootable CD/DVD, preferably some sort of 'Live' CD. If it's totally useable then, I'd lean toward damaged Operating System software rather than a hardware problem.

Yes, most of the time you can access all of the files on a hard drive simply by connecting it to another computer. (Of course if it's been encrypted this won't work).
