Hi you all . I received motherboard last saturday and took it to compusa for installation (and also install operating system if needed. I expect toget my pc back this afternoon or tomorrow and then I will first create a full system image with my ATI version 9 then I will try to restore a backup and it does not work I will restore the original image and then will use ATI 2012 version with universal restore that I bought yesterday and use it to restore the old backup created with 2009 version and that way I will not have to start from scratch and re-install 140+ softwares that I had.

I will keep you posted but be patient it may take me 3 or 4 days to post here again.

Hi, you won't believe the Oddissey I have been thru. When at last I received the motherboard on November 25 and took it to CompUSA for installation, after 4 days they called me to tell me that the new motherboard was defective (blown capacitor) and to go there to pick it up and return to seller and get another one to continue the repair job.

I called the seller and got a RMA to returrn the item and shipped it today December 7 and they will get it by tuesday 13 and then will issue me a refund. I have been almost an enti8re month without my pc (using laptop). The lesson learned is: never buy computer parts online unless absolutely necessary.

Since I bought Acronis universal restore (to dissimilar hardware) it does not matter anymore what motherboard I install and I will be able to restore my full system from a backup created before the pc went bad.

I have been requested by Arie to mark this thread as "solved" but I can not do that until a new motherboard is installed but I believe that will solve the problem. I have to wait till next week for the refund to buy another motherboard at CompUSA and get it installed. I will post again in 7 to 10 days let you know how things are going with the motherboard from hell

Hi folks and happy new year to you all. At last I got the right motherboard and compusa installed it and I got it on december 28 and then I used ATI 2012 Plus Pack with universal restore (to dissimilar hardware) and I was able to restore an image (from ATI 2009) from August 25, 2011 and the restoration was flawless I recverd all my 140+ softwares and everything BUT.... after a couple days the **** issue came back the image flashes on monitor (revenge of the damned).

I took the monitor first to Best Buy Geek Squad and they checked and told me the monitor was bad. The nI nwent across the street to CompUSA (where they installed the motherboard) and they checked it there and also told me the monitor was bad and it was working intermitelntly because it was on the dying stage.

I ordered a new monitor online, same brand Viewsonic model VA705B (the old monitor was VA8702) for $126 free shipping and I received it yesterday and all is fine now.

So what happened is that the monitor was bad and working intermitently but also the motherboard was bad (a double whammy !!) and I thought it was only the Mobo. So now Ican have my PC running with the same system and software I had before this nightmare.

I think we are ready to close this thread but i will wait for your response before closing.
