I am running Win 7 office 64-bit and Microsoft Outlook 2007. I can create new folders, and move mail to the folder. When I try to display the contents of the folder the returned message is "There are no items to show in this view." When I Search for the mail I'll locate it in the folder I initially moved it to. My main problem is too often I can not come up with a valid search word.
I once again come to the experts. I hope somebody out there has an answer. THANKS!

I don't use outlook but isn't there a setting to view only unread emails?

I'm assuming you opened the email before moving it.

After reading the mail I click on "Move to." I decide which folder to put the mail into and place it in the folder. I am brought back to the Inbox. Being returned to the in Inbox I most assume the placement worked. When I look into that folder the folder shows as empty. I hope this answers your question.

Can you try draging and droping it in there to see what happens?

Look in View, maybe from there into View settings to see if there's a place where it's been set to display only unread messages. If so, change it to view all messages.

If it's not under View, it might be under Tools>Options (or similar wording).

Oh, yes...it may be you have to set that option for each mail folder individually.

    Outlook 2007 ....

View > Current View - ensure that Messages is checked and nothing else.

Miz: I think your suggestion is the same as Pete Cs. If it's not please be more explicit, if possible.

What MrBill is referring to is drag & drop .....

Left click and hold on a mail and move it over to the destination folder and release the mouse button.

As you move over the folder list the folder immediately beneath the cursor will be highlighted and if the mouse button is then released the mail will go into the highlighted folder.

I did what Pete said. The mail went into the folder, I think. When I selected the folder it was empty. I searched for the mail and could not find it.

Yes, it was the same. Our posts were only minutes apart.

Have you gone to the View>Current View while in one of the problem folders? That's what I meant - that you may have to set the view for each folder individually.

In other words, open a problem folder, go to View>Current View, make sure Messages is checked. If that displays the read message in that folder, open the next folder, repeat the View>Current View process.

Miz: I went to the individual folder as you suggested.
View > Current View > Only Message checked
