I just loaded Windows 7 into my old 8250 Dell Dimension puter. Im have a major issue with the graphics driver. I can't find any drivers that are compatible with Win 7. Not only is it causing the BSOD, I can't adjust the screen resolution to the size I want. Its just the standard VGA (its integrated). I've looked on the Dell site, I've Google searched and Im coming up with nothing.
I'm not even sure this is the right thread to post this question and if it isn't, I apologize.
Any help or suggestions anyone can give would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

First, you must identify the video device.
That model came with either an ATI or nVidia video device.

Get the model number of the video device and then get the drivers at ATI or nVidia sites.

Most came with the ATI Radeon 9700.

The only thing that comes up when I look in device manage and system information is "standard VGA ". I tried looking at the card itself and the only thing I can see on it is REV A01. I dont know why this stuff has to be such a secret.

Found it. I had to pull the card out of the slot, take magnifying glass with a flashlight to actually see it. It's a nVidia model P73

That computer came with one of these nvidia cards:

    64MB DDR GeForce4 Ti 4200
    64MB GeForce4 MX 420 w/TV Out
    128MB DDR GeForce4 Ti 4600 w/TV Out

If you look at the available XP drivers for that computer at Dell's site, those are the drivers available.

There are no windows7 drivers for those old video cards that I could find at nvidia or geforce sites. As far as I can tell, they only support windows7 from the 6000 series upward.

If you use a FREE program like Belarc Advisor, you won't have to jump all over the place to see what is inside the PC. It is pretty accurate on giving you an inventory of what you have. I know that this doesn't solve the your problem but will make things easier in the future.
