I currently have IE 5.5 SP2 and Outlook Express 5.5. Since I have just come off being on AOL for years, Oulook express is a little new to me. I have a Pentium II 300 MHz with Windows 98SE, 192 mb Ram. Are there improvements in IE 6 that are worth upgrading for? Has anyone had problems with the upgrade? Does this also upgrade Outlook Express to the same version? I assume it just installs on top of my existing version, replacing it and all my address book entries and other preferences stay the same. Thanks for any help

I'm running Windows 98 SE and have recently upgraded to IE 6 SP1 with no problems. I don't know what the difference is. But I upgraded. I know the toolbars in IE can lock into place.

If you decide to upgrade, I suggest that you back up your e-mail, favorites, and address book. Sometimes in the upgrading process these get mugged.

    1) E-mail you want to save can be easily done with a freeware called dbXtract.

    2) Use either My Computer or Windows Explorer to find C:\Windows\Favorites Copy and Paste the CONTENTS of the favorites folder to another folder. Ignore the message about having some hidden files.

    3) The easiest way to save your OE Address Book is to first make a folder in MY DOCUMENTS. Name it Addy Book. Open your Address Book. File > Export > OTHER ADDRESS BOOK > Text file (Comma Seperated Values) > Browse it to the "Addy Book" Folder. Follow the rest of the instructions. Be sure to check all the option boxes.
