    Please see
    http://www.windowsbbs.com/other-pc-software/100751-wmp-r6025-runtime-error.html

I don't seem to be getting anywhere with the problem in my previous thread.
I would like to remove WMP 11 completely and try a re-install.
I have tried the 2 methods in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/934372
Method 1 ends up with a "Not possible to uninstall WMP 11 because folders that are required for the uninstall have already been deleted ".
Method 2 gives a "cannot find" the typed instruction.

What can I do next ?
    Thanks in advance

Hmmm... looks like you are stuck.

I would try to see if installing WMP11 'on top' of itself would subsequently allow you to remove it... but I don't have high hopes this would work.

    Thanks Arie,
I supposedly removed WMP 11 with "Revo ", and tried to install WMP 10. This was "not compatable" and short of doing some complicated copyiny and inserting some instructions into deeply buried files which I was not confident with, I reinstalled WMP 11.
No difference. It will play some of my MPEG files, but others still come up with the runtime error, which I don't understand at all. I need a rest from googling and fiddling so look forward to reading any suggestions,
    Regards

Interesting that your powerDVD will run the movies and WMP won’t.

Download and run DECCHECK from Microsoft.

It shows the installed MPEG-2 codecs for WMP and allows you to change the one used.
Designed for WMC and WMP 10 but works with WMP 11.

    Hope that does it.

    Thanks eph.
It gives me 4 options. (How can I post the actual window in XP ?)
red cross Arcsoft MPEG Video Decoder mpgvideo.ax 2.4.48 red cross
Exclamation triangle CyberLink Video/SP Decoder dvsd.ax 3.5.0.1303 red cross
red cross Nero Video Decoder NeVideo.ax 2.0.2.61 green tick
red cross Nero DVD Decoder NeVideo.ax 2.0.2.61 red cross

    Which one to choose ?
Only the Cyberlink one says ( not compatible with synchro feature ...... check for update with vendor)
The other three say (decoder not compatible with synchro feature ......recommend not using)
    Now what ?
    Thanks in advance
    DD

Only Contributing Members can post arrachments - the workaround is to post on a photohosting site (e.g. Photobucket) and post the URL here

    OK Guys,
Did some surfing and googling this morning, tried a few things to no avail. I then found on
http://download.cnet.com/Media-Player-Codec-Pack/3000-13632_4-10749065.html?tag=mncol the Media Player Codec Pack.
I downloaded this, ran it, and it seems to have cured the problem. Can't explain why but hey-ho will just enjoy.
I will mark this as resolved unless I get further troubles. Also the previous thread mentioned above.
Thanks to all who read and contributed to this problem
    Regards
