When I reboot or boot up Windows 7 the "Starting Windows" screen displays and the four colored dots start moving to make the Windows Logo. at one point the dots stop moving and remain stationary for about 15 seconds then move to another stopped position for about the same about of time. Then the Windows logo will appear.

Why do the dots stop moving and take such an inappropriate amount of time to get to the Windows logo?

It's seems it is looking for something before it can continue. Everything is normal after that. It's just perturbing to see when my laptop is such a smooth procedure on boot up.

This is what I got from that link:

    Page Not Found - 404

The 404 or Not Found error message is an HTTP standard response code indicating that the client (your browser) was able to communicate with the server, but the server could not find what was requested.

Well, there stupid use of an ' sign in their URL seems to break any attempt to link. I even tried a link shortener service, but even that won't work.

Use this google search result instead. Should be the 1st link (itexpertvoice.com)

Thanks for the help. I just shortened the URL I used in the link to http://itexpertvoice.com, used that to get to their home page, used their search to look for "fight slow startup windows 7" which got me to a page with a "Read more" link and that got me there.

Then I scrolled down on this page and saw everybody else had done the work for me. I really should scroll down first!

Thanks for all the suggestions. I finally have it fixed. My second 500Gig HD (1 of 2) was the culprit. The PC was not recognizing I had two hard drives. I unplugged the second (non boot disk) and everything started working normally. Again thanks to everybody that tried to help.
