I would love to get rid of the Bing toolbar and I have
googled it but cannot find the answer. The toolbar is not in add/remove programs.

Has anyone been able to get rid of this beast?

I don't have IE9... but you should have to good old fashion way of clicking VIEW->Toolbars and unchecking it.

That would be nice Steve but the toolbar is not listed. It also is not listed in the ccleaner uninstaller or in the Revo uninstaller.

Anyone been down this road before?

I suspect it's like MS IE being part of Windows flavours, whether you like it or not. In that case, I understand the Europeans forced MS to have it as option. No such luck here, I gather. I know that there is a tool to delete the ASK Toolbar, which can be a pain. It can probably be done by a programmer but unles you know what you're doing, it would probably stuff up IE. Perhaps use Opera (is it still around?) or another explorer bar that doesn't have Bing.

I have IE9, but no Bing bar. Are you sure it didn't come with any other free app ?

In Tools>Manage Add-ons, select "Toolbars and Extensions" on the left-hand side of the window that opens and in the list displayed, find and click on Bing Bar, then on the Disable button, click OK.

See if that gets rid of it.

Thanks for the reply Miz but I'm sorry to say it was not listed there either. I did a search on my computer for "Bing toolbar" and "msn toolbar" with Agent Ransack and found nothing.

I uninstalled IE9 and went back to IE8. The MSN toolbar is still there and I can't find it using "tools ".

After spending an hour researching this I have found out that the only way to get rid of this pest is by accessing "Local Group Policy Editor ".

Local Group Policy Editor is not available on Windows 7 Home Premium which is what I have.
