Just wondering if there's a way to do this?

Currently running 7 Home Premium 64bit but soon i'll be running Pro 64bit, so question applies to both (although I highly doubt the answer would be different between them)

I would like to create an Indexer entry that will index every .exe on the drive. This will be useful for - for example - quickly running an application via Start Menu that is not in Start Menu > Programs, maybe because it's a 'portable' app or is migrated from another drive.

    Thanks!

Well, it doesn't really look like I can do this explicitly, in my case I ended up just indexing the Program Files folder from the other PC (e.g. the folder containing the files copied from that PC) so that the .exes show up in Start Menu when typing it out.

What I was looking to do (and i'm not assuming it's possible) was if I can limit what files are indexed, for a specific folder or set of folders. For example, instead of indexing several thousands of files from {Program Files}\*, it would be great if I could filter the index so that only the *.exe files from said directory were indexed.

However, it looks like Microsoft made it so that changes to what file extensions are indexed, is only a global setting for the Content Indexer

I haven't found conclusive info, but I think that the filters available in Windows Search Indexer are 'global', so not configurable on a per directory basis.
