has anyone figured out a way to be able to switch the menu bars in IE9 back to the way they appeared IE8? I downloaded IE9, installed it, and within an hour uninstalled it. I don't like the new layout, reagrdless of the new safety features. Why does MS insist on changing the very things that most of us have gotten used to, and in most cases, like, as they are more intuitive?

Did you try right clicking on an empty space @ the very top up near the address bar? You should see a menu drop down put a check next to where it shows Menu Bar. My appologies if you tried this already.

Yes, I've tried that already. No positive results. Why would MS make the determination that what they have established in the past, as a habit, and, by the way, very user friendly, to now be the de-facto 'past' and now we must learn and get used to a new type and layout of the menu bar? I have tried to comminunicate with MS regarding this issue, with not so much as a reply of any kind. I did a google search for the issue I'm referring to, and I get 100's of thousands of responses, all griping about the same thing: the inability to make the menu bars appear and function as was with IE8.

So what's the problem you are talking about? The only difference I can see is that you now have Favorites on the right side, instead of the left... And nope, "they" don't let you move it back.

MS stopped listening to consumers a few years ago ;)

Well, it seems that no one knows how to move the page tabs back below the menu bar, so I will continue using IE8, which feels more user friendly, at least to me.

Wow... if that bothers you, why not just hide the menu bar? Which is the default anyway if I remember.

Sure you can continue using IE8 for a while yet, probably it'll be supported till 2015/2020.

I love new things and changes. Most don't take but a couple of days to get used to.

For one who dislikes change, isn't it better in small doses so you can slowly adjust and get used to them. Wait to long and updating will require major changes and an awful period of adjustment. Try the new for a while and soon it will be the normal comfy thing your used to.

Well, I don't know which OS mcintire2 is running, but here's the differences:

To the left is the default 'look' of IE8 (on Windows XP). Next the default look of IE9 on Windows 7, and the last is IE9 on Windows 7 with show tabs on separate row selected.

In IE8 with the menu bar displayed it reads "File/Edit/View/Favorites/Tools/Help" ... How do I get that same menu bar to display in IE9 ? I've tried everything and can't find it..

Also this could be the same "menu bar" mcintire2 is talking about...

Right Click on the title bar and select Menu Bar.

IE 8 was the exact same way. You have to put them there. Just did IE 8 for a friend and had to put the menu and other bars back.
