    Hi,

I have some images I want to use as my desktop background.

They are smaller pictures which I want that way so I can center it and have my desktop icons around the outside.

The issue I am having is when I use a picture as my desktop wallpaper it places the picture in the upper left corner of my screen instead of in the center like in the past. Not sure why this is happening or when it started.

    Any ideas?

    Thank You.
    Joe D.

In Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Personalization\Desktop Background, after selecting the picture, make sure you have "Center" selected in the "Picture position" drop-down list (located at the lower left of the Desktop Background window).

Another way to do it ...

In MSPaint, (or similar), create a single color image the same size as your Desktop, put your picture in the middle of that, save it, and then use this new image as your wallpaper.

    ?

I think that may work although with each auto change of picture not practical. Some how my windows 7 thinks the center is in the upper left corner of the screen...how dumb is that?

    Hello jobeppo,

As a self described "experienced user" and after doing a quick hunt and peck through a google search I came up with a possibility worth checking out. Back up your registry cause you will need to explore this setting:
    http://www.registry.windowsreinstall.com/setwallpaper.htm

In my reg I do not have have "string values" but do have Dword values with settings of 0. I could experiment with strings if I must but would rather not.

This is what google has to say on the subject:
    wallpaper position

    2 other qiuick questions:
Have you recently used any 3rd party applications relating to wallpaper, such as a particular themed one or a loader or manager of such? Anything along those lines?

Darn if I didn't forget what the 2nd question was going to be. It will come to me............

    This fixed my problem...Thank you.

The Wallpaperoriginx was set to 7 and the Wallpaperoriginy was set to 5.
Changing them to 0 centered the image !!! Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet...

Tell your Hubby not to worry, I don't think long distance relationships could work, besides I've heard you Texans like firearms too much ;)

Seriously Ann, your posts here are well respected, why aren't you a Team Member?

I was for a long. One of the first as matter of fact. Husband's health took a bad turn and I could no longer devote the time it took to keep up and follow up on lengthy problems. I felt I needed to resign and step down and let another take the empty slot. Thank you again for the comments. They sure make me feel good coming from another well respected and known member makes them even more special.
