Windows updates stops applications from loading

    Two or more of my windows base application cant load (microsoft office, adobe reader 8 etc). I get the following error message
    "the application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail. "
    i tried system restore but the CMOS date is not correct may be battery is bad so restore did not work. Need your help

    Usually Windows Updates won't run if your system clock is way off..

    Which version of Office are you running and have you installed all of the SP's and Updates for it?

    Error 1935

    Thank i tried the suggestion from the link you suggested i got the following error messages after down load and installation.

    Error 1935. An error occured during the installation of assembly "policy.8.0. Microsoft. VC80.OpenMP. type= "win32-policy ".version= "8.0.50727.42 ".publicKeytoken= "1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b "processorArchitecture=x86 "'.
