I'm new to Windows 7, previously my OS was Windows XPSP3. I would like to use photos I took and converted into BMP files as wallpaper. Under XP I would save the file in the windows folder then control panal > display > select my photo as background image> save as new theme under a different name.

How do I do this in Windows 7?

    TIA

Easy: Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Personalization. Click Desktop Background and from the Picture location: drop-down select Pictures Library.

No need for BMP files, the normal JPG photo's are fine.

Ok. JPG files are just fine, but what folder do I put my photos in, so that the OS will "see" them as wallpaper? How do I make them be the background/wallpaper?

Hi Brian1951. Windows looks for pictures in your Libraries< Pictures folder. If you want Windows to see those pictures that you can choose as your desktop background, just simply place any pictures that you want for your desktop background in your Pictures folder.

You can access your pictures folder by clicking Start< Pictures.

If you prefer to keep some pictures in a different folder, just use the Browse button at the top of the Desktop Background screen to navigate to that folder. That will then display the contents of the selected folder to choose from.

LOL And you gave a thumbs down to Win 7. :D

Lots of things are almost the same in each version of Windows. Not all mind you, but lots are...

    Glad you got it fixed.
