My system has said this each time I boot up for a few days now.

It refers to a "HID-compliant consumer control device ".

After searching for appropriate software, the system tells me that it failed to install "HID non user input data filter (KB 911895). Fatal errror during installation."

If I go to Microsoft's update page it tells me that KB 911895 has been downloaded and it remains to install it.

When I try to do that I am told that is wasn't installed but gives no reason or explanation.

    What's going on?

Sounds like a mouse to me.

Does Device Manager show any errors?

Try the following Syncopator & see if it solves your problem.

Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers, & look for & if it is there, delete file "wdf01000.Sys" [You can copy the file first, save to a location of your choice just in case.] If wdf01000 isn't there, stop here. If it was....continue.

Next, go back to windows update, choose 'Custom' & then select hardware updates from your choices on the left.

The KB911895 HID non-user Input data filter should be offered again.

Select it, download, & install. Reboot your system. That should solve & fix the HID non-user Input Data Filter Error failure to install problem.

    Post back!

Thank you Decapo, it did, indeed, solve the problem.

You know, I searched Google for information about the problem and came across that same solution. I thought that I had done that. But obviously hadn't.

My cerebral RAM (more than three score years and ten old) must be faulty.

    Thank you once again.
