Hi, i have winxp pro, and everything was working fine until i started messing with the accounts, adding a guest account, but in the end disabling it again. turns out, that the windows logon now requires me to input the password every time i turn on the computer. i would like it to automatically start up, putting in the admin password like it did before. i know how to do it in win2k, but for all of the searching ive done, i can't find it.

    thanks in advance!

    - Go to Microsoft Online Support.

    - click for advanced search.

    - Pick Windows XP for the search area and use autologon as your search term.

The first result you will probably want to look at is Q315231 - How to Enable Automatic Logon in Windows (deals with all 3 XP systems) but there may be information of interest in several of the other articles that list there.

    :) Sweet, thanks a million!
That article had exactly what i needed.... I'm still new to xp, and all those "helpful" limitations and dumbed down access to everything will take some getting used to.

It does take some getting used to. But for me it has been well worth it. I really enjoy this OS. These days when I have to work on a 2K system I have to think a little and wonder "well where did that option go?" and NT4 is even worse. :D
