I have an old Dell Inspiron 530S (Low Profile) Desktop System and would like upgrade the video card. Would the XFX PV-T96O-YHFC GeForce 9600 GSO 512MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card be compitable with the Inspiron 530S system?

Posting a link to the card would help;)

Have to keep in mind that the Dell has a real small psu that won't allow you to put in too big of new video card.

That's what I was worried about the power supply. Other than opening up the unit, is there a free program that will tell me about the components of my system including the power supply?

    Running Win VISTA Home Premium
    Dell Inspiron 530S

Hi AceH. I don't know of a program that will tell you what power supply your computer is running.

As Steve stated, it would help if you posted a link to the video card that you have so we can see if it is indeed compatible with your system or not.

Obviously the PSU is probably going to be about 250 Watt or 300 Watt so unless your GPU can run on that low of a power supply it will NOT work with the Dell system.

Edit: If you look here that Dell pc is running a 250 Watt power supply. Do you know what the power requirements of the graphics card are?

Do you need any recommendations on any low profile video cards to install in the Dell slim PC or not?

I have a GeForce 8600 (i think) in my Inspiron 530 (full tower) at the office. I'll get the exact model number and see what my power supply is rated at.

Open your case and see what your psu is rated at.

As I said earlier it's an old system and I had not planned on spending a lot on the video card. Had the one for $14.95 after MIR been compitable I would have gotten it otherwise, it's not that big a deal for me with this old PC.
