    Hi all. I have a 500Gb HDD partitioned 50/50.

The 'C' drive houses my OS and usual software but has 133Gb unused. The 'F' drive holds all my photos but i have run out of space :(

Is it possible to add another partition of 100Gb to the 'C' drive without having to format it?

I would dearly love a 1Tb drive which would solve my challenge but it's not financially possible at the moment......bummer eh? LOL

    I'm running XP SP3...

    Any suggestions greatly appreciated

    Thanks

Start moving photos to DVDs. Catagorize them and move 4 - 4.5G per disk off. Gives you more room on the drive and gives a more permanent backup of the photos. Once you get some working room, get a program like Easeus Partition Manager, or google for other partition programs, and make things fit.

    Hi,

In your case, you said your F partition is full but the C partition has more unallocated space and you also want to enlarge the C partition, which partition did you want to enlarge, C or F?

As Ski52 said, after important data backup just in case, you can use Easeus Partition Manager home version to do what u need. Actually it's more convenient.

In addition, they have released the Easeus Partition Master Beta version 9.0.0 and you can get the gift:

Many thanks for the suggestions. It is the 'C' drive i want to further partition as it is under used. I have 60Gb of motocross photos and 50Gb of Autograss photos so I'm reluctant to put them all on to DVD's....I have borrowed an 80Gb HDD and transferred the MX pics to it which has released some space on the 'F' drive, for the time being. I'll have a look at the Easeus programme, sounds like it may well resolve most of my problems. I guess i'll just have to save up for a 1TB drive now LOL

Thanks for the input, greatly appreciated...

Incidentally, at the end of the year my Autograss pics will be backed up to DVD's but the Motocross will be totally deleted as i am unlikely to get any orders. I already have a huge stack of DVD's, dating back 4 years, full of motorsport photos, I must stop taking so many hahaha!! :O)

    Cheers

WOW, great, you must be one of the professional motorsport fans!

Ok, if you want to enlarge the C partition, you need to make the unallocated space from F partition next to c partition, you can see the step-by-step instructions here:

It sounds like you want to resize the C partition (make it smaller) and then make a new partition out of the free space.

There are partition resizing tools out there, some are very good. However, before attempting to resize a partition, esp the operating system partition, always backup your important and wanted files to external media such as DVDs or an external hard drive.

There are always risks in resizing partitions and no such software will guarantee that things will go as intended. Whatever product you use, be sure to study its documentation and follow the instructions exactly.

That being said, here's free partition software:

Definitively I recommend you the partition magic tool, it is a very powerful and easy to use; well worked fine for me, so just in case, get a backup of your important data before proceed. Good Luck.

I may be a little late with this, but with as many photos as you have, you should look into a 1TB USB external drive just for storage.
I have used both of the two tools below and have never lost any data using either tool.
I have re-sized, moved partitions around and made new ones, without data loss.
I personally prefer Partition Wizard Home even though both have very similar GUI's.

I have my 100GB laptop partitioned:
C: 30GB (Windows and Program Files)
    E: 20GB (My Documents)
    F: 33.1GB (Storage)
    I: 10GB (Images of C)

I also have two USB external HDD's to store my valuable files.

Partition Wizard Home Edition v7.0 (10.57mb)

EaseUS Partition Master Home Edition v9.1 (11.16mb)

    My apologies Admin.....

I uses the EaseUs Partition tool and it worked a treat, quite painless really...

I'm still trying to find the cash for a 1Tb HDD, might have to drop some hints to the family :)

Again, thanks for all the input...
