In Outlook Express I could group my email contacts and then choose only one or some within that group to send a message to. In Live Mail I can put my email contacts into categories, but it seems I can only send a message to every address in that category. Is there any way around this? Also, when composing a new email and I click on Add in the Categories box, only the full list of addresses comes up, with no sign of the category groups. What should I do to get the categories to come up?

    Hi DonJ,

Yes ,you're right there is no way to select this from a compose window.
There is what I would call an assbackwards work-around.

You have to decide beforehand to whom you're going to send the email.
In the main window > Menu bar > Go > Contacts
On the left you have your Categories.
Select the Category that your intended contacts are in.
Now just the contacts in this category will show.
Hold down Ctrl and select just the ones you want to send this email to.
R-click one of the "highlighted" ones > Send Email
A new compose window comes up with the previously selected addresses
    in the To field.
    You can also use Actions > Send e-mail (Ctrl-Shift -S )
or on the menu bar (if showing) > E-mail
Not ideal since this way you'll have no choice to use CC or BCC.

    Hope this helped,
    Pete E.

Thanks Pete. Not being able to use BCC: is ridiculous. That's saying the writers of LiveMail didn't even think of the spammers' collection methods, which using BCC: for bulk emails helps to thwart. It is such a user-unfriendly program compared with Outlook Express.

    Hi Don,
    Thanks for the feedback.
Again there is a work-around I just tried.
Select your addresses ,but include one that is sent to yourself ,but named Undisclosed Recipients or All My Friends eg.
You can name this any way you want.
Highlight all the addresses in the To: field (except the one to yourself) and drag them to the BCC: field or use cut and paste.
This way you get what you want.
BTW ,I agree. WLM is a half baked product

    @ Arie,
Maybe, but not everyone either needs or wants to shell out the money for Outlook. it's not inexpensive for personal use.
Prices range from $119- $139. (from what I've seen)

    @DonJ,
You may be interested in an equivalent email client called EM Client :)
    http://www.emclient.com/?lang=en
There is a free version (needs a free license),but it's restricted to 2 accounts.
Not a big deal, because you can use as many accounts as you want by having
your mail go through an "aggregator" ,like Gmail.
E.g. Use your ISP's email and then use Gmail for any other accounts you may have.
Check it out - it has a lot of features.

It may be something you might want to try.
