Is it okay to use more than 1 disk defragmenter? Or should you use only one?
Out of these 3, which would you say is best?

    Auslogics
    Defraggler
    Smart Defrag.

Are there any better ones? What would you recommend?

NTFS isn't hit as badly as FAT regarding fragmentation, I've found the one supplied with the OS is more than adequate.

You should only use one defragmenter. User the Windows build-in one. I realize Windows 7 has no cute graphics to look at, but what's the point?

Hi VaCcAro. IMO I've used Auslogics Disk Defrag for many years and I've found that it does a great job at defragmenting your harddrive and it has a few more options than the built in Windows defrag utility.

If you don't know which defrag utility to choose then try each one out for yourself and see which one you like best. But as said by others I would only run one disk defrag program.

Agree with the above. Win 7 does it automatically so I just let it do it's thing and go on my way.

Well I thought that using programs like the three I mentioned were supposed to be faster and they supposedly do a better job and have an "optimize" feature.

What happens if you use more than one defrag program? Would it benefit, not matter, or be harmful? How often should the hard drive be defragmented?

Also, I know smart defrag has the following feature:

    Always-on Automatic Defragment Enhanced
Smart Defrag 2 works automatically and quietly in the background, so it continually and constantly keeps your computer fragment-free.

Is that a good feature to have?

I have used Windows, then a different one and it found more defrags. Then run Windows again and it would find more defrags. This would do this I guess forever if I kept it going. So I uninstalled the different one and have always used the built in one in Windows.

They would because each defragger util is programmed in a different way & what's the best way for one may not be the best way for the other. Running 2 defarg utils is like running 2 online antivirus - they would keep fighting over it.

Maybe.... but another 0.001 sec faster... are you really going to notice that?

You get a mess. Each program has its own preferences, so all will try to one-up the other, causing them to run more than they should, thereby reducing performance.

Sounds like Windows 7 defrag to me!
