In 2008 my son purchased an Acer Aspire One with a trial version of Microsoft 2007 Home and Student, after the trial he activated the program.
He is in Afghanistan now and wants me to send him the netbook. I was messing with it and it crashed and I ran the Acer recovery that was loaded on the HHD, I now have the trial version again but no way to activate it to the full version as all his other personal things are in storage in Monmouth,NJ. It does not have a optic drive. Is there any way to recover the key other than buy a new version? I have contacted Microsoft with no avail. I should of never messed with it. I was trying to load my SolSuite card game for him. Don't know what I done.

It's probably too late - but it wouldn't hurt to try this.
There's a possibility that the key he had was in an email. Did you save those?

Thanks for the reply,Yes I believe it is too late. Along with installing SM 2.3.3 and the Solsuite game I ran a reg. cleaner and then it would not boot [I think he had a virus to begin with]. Not thinking straight and working more with it I just ran the Acer restore tool and put it back to new. I then loaded the SM 2.3.3 and the Solsuite and then realized I had deleted his files and his IE profile. I am hoping he has something on another computer but as it stands now "my names is mud" Ha

Hi, there is a small chance that you could still recover the files by using a program called File Scavenger. Have a look, its worth a try isn't it.
